  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for the swirl)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for the swirl)


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and sour cream (or yogurt) to the butter mixture and beat until well combined.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated.

  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon for the swirl.

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

  • Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Gently press down each ball with the back of a spoon.

  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
