Description

These Iowa Party Bites are a simple yet sophisticated dish perfect for any occasion. Creamy, cheesy filling nestled in flaky shells, with a savory punch from beef or chicken ham, makes them an irresistible appetizer or snack. Whether you’re hosting a casual gathering or preparing a party spread, these bites will be a crowd-pleaser. Warm, golden, and bursting with flavor, they’re bound to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 mini phyllo shells or puff pastry cups

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup cooked and chopped beef or chicken ham

  • ½ cup green onions, thinly sliced

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

  • In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, chopped beef or chicken ham, green onions, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and evenly mixed.

  • Spoon the creamy mixture into each mini phyllo shell or puff pastry cup, filling them generously.

  • Arrange the filled shells on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the shells are golden and the filling is bubbly.

  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a couple of minutes before serving.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley or extra green onions if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, try adding chopped bell peppers or spinach to the filling for extra flavor.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat in the oven for best results.

  • You can substitute the beef or chicken ham with turkey bacon or omit the meat for a vegetarian version.
