Description

This Strawberry Mango Jam is a delicious combination of sweet strawberries and tropical mangoes, creating a smooth, vibrant spread. Perfect for toast, yogurt, pancakes, or even as a filling for pastries, this homemade jam is easy to make with just a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 2 cups ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)
  • ¼ cup water (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fruit: Wash and chop the strawberries. Peel and dice the mangoes into small pieces.
  2. Cook the fruit mixture: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the strawberries, mangoes, and lemon juice. Stir and let the fruit release its juices. Add ¼ cup water if needed to prevent sticking.
  3. Add sugar and simmer: Stir in the sugar and mix well. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Mash or blend (optional): Use a potato masher for a chunkier texture or an immersion blender for a smoother jam.
  5. Check for doneness: Place a spoonful of jam on a cold plate. If it thickens and holds its shape, it’s ready. If too runny, continue simmering for a few more minutes and test again.
  6. Store the jam: Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Transfer to sterilized glass jars, seal tightly, and allow it to cool before refrigerating.

Notes

  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 6 months.
  • For a firmer texture, cook for a few extra minutes and test for thickness.
  • Add a splash of vanilla or a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.
