Description

This homemade blueberry jam is a simple, delicious, and naturally sweet preserve that you can make in under 30 minutes. With just four ingredients, this recipe is pectin-free and perfect for spreading on toast, swirling into yogurt, or using as a dessert topping. Whether you use fresh or frozen blueberries, this jam is packed with flavor and easy to store for later

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced 🍋
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Wash the fresh blueberries (if using frozen, rinse off any ice crystals).
  • Zest and juice the lemon.

2️⃣ Cook the Jam:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, and salt.
  • Stir over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.

3️⃣ Simmer and Thicken:

  • Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Use a spoon to mash some of the blueberries to release their juices.
  • The jam is ready when it thickens slightly and reaches 220°F (104°C).

4️⃣ Cool and Store:

  • Remove from heat and let the jam cool for 5 minutes in the saucepan.
  • Transfer to clean jars and let it reach room temperature before sealing.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 6 months

Notes

✅ If using frozen blueberries, you may need to simmer for a few extra minutes to achieve the right consistency.
✅ To check if the jam is ready, use the cold plate test—drop a little jam onto a frozen plate and see if it wrinkles when touched.
✅ For a smoother texture, blend the jam slightly before cooling.
✅ Adjust the sweetness by using less sugar or natural sweeteners like honey.
