Description

This easy homemade Worcestershire sauce is packed with bold, savory flavors and made with simple ingredients. Perfect for marinades, dressings, and more!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or coconut aminos for a lower-sodium option)

  • 2 tablespoons molasses (or brown sugar)

  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste (or 1 teaspoon lemon juice)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, molasses, and tamarind paste. Stir well.

  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, black pepper, cinnamon, and ground cloves. Mix to combine.

  • Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Stir occasionally.

  • Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 10–15 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.

  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool completely.

  • If a smoother texture is preferred, strain the sauce through a fine-mesh sieve.

  • Transfer to an airtight glass jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

Notes

  • For a smokier taste, add a few drops of liquid smoke.

  • For a spicier kick, mix in a pinch of cayenne pepper.

  • The flavors will deepen over time, making it even better after a few days
