Description

These baked pears with blue cheese and honey are a simple yet elegant dish perfect for any occasion. The combination of tender, caramelized pears, creamy blue cheese, and sweet honey creates a balanced flavor profile that’s both sophisticated and delicious. Serve them as a savory appetizer, a light dessert, or a unique side dish to impress your guests!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe but firm pears (such as Bosc or Anjou), halved and cored
  • ½ cup blue cheese, crumbled
  • 2 tbsp honey (plus more for drizzling, if desired)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: ¼ cup chopped walnuts for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Prepare the pears by washing, slicing them in half lengthwise, and carefully removing the cores to create a small well.
  • Arrange the pears in the baking dish, cut side up. Drizzle olive oil over each pear half.
  • Fill the pears with crumbled blue cheese, ensuring each cavity has an even amount.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pears are tender but still hold their shape and the cheese has softened.
  • Drizzle with honey immediately after baking and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Optional: Garnish with chopped walnuts for added crunch.
  • Serve warm as an appetizer, side dish, or light dessert. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Choose firm pears like Bosc or Anjou for the best texture.
  • If you prefer a milder cheese, swap blue cheese for goat cheese or feta.
  • Add a crunch by sprinkling chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds before serving.
  • For a vegan version, replace blue cheese with dairy-free cheese and use maple syrup instead of honey.
